Along Honey Road

Another couple of ipad paintings, this time inspired by a trip to a bear sanctuary here in Budapest where we were able to get up close with the bears and racoons and feed them honey. Something about being so close to animals is very inspiring. You can get a sense of their character and mood and how they relate to each other. For example seeing the bears using their size to drive wolves away from some food they both want and seeing the wolf having to give up and walk away with his tail between his legs. Also with the racoons there was one smaller, weaker racoon that would be pushed out of the group while we were trying to feed them. The others would growl and hiss at her until she gave up her position. We had to distract the larger racoons and feed her off to the side so they wouldn’t attack her. Those interactions are great for getting the imagination going about possible backstories of characters.
